Miscellaneous Happenings

A few miscellaneous happenings....

For St. Patricks Day we decided to venture out with some friends and go to the St. Patrick's Day Parade.  There were tons of people and lots to see....the parade went on and on.  After about an hour the wind started picking up, and some people left, leaving us with front row seats for the last half the parade.

I've been shocked at Tyler's spelling words the past couple weeks!  His words used to be easy to spell like red and top, and his.  The last two weeks his words have included radio, truly, music, silent, and paper.  I haven't talked to the teacher, but another parent said the kids recently had an assessment spelling test to see how well the students can spell.  The words start easy and then get harder and harder and the assessment test continues until every child has missed 3 words in a row.  At the end of the test, they find where the class average is and then they choose spelling words that are one level above the average.  I'm shocked!  There must be some really good spellers in Tyler's class!  We've had to work a little harder on his spelling since he can't easily sound it out now.

Rachel had her very first donut this past week.  I used this simple recipe using biscuit dough.  Easy and pretty good.

We are so excited for our basement to be done!  The kids have been really good through this process and have helped us clean floors, windows, etc.  All we have left is the painter to do touch ups and final inspection!  Pictures will follow shortly.
