Oklahoma...finally

Several times this summer I made plans to go to Oklahoma to see my family, but we just seemed to have bad luck going standby on flights this summer. Since we didn't make it there over the summer we took a quick weekend trip after school started.

Tyler and Rachel were able to play with their favorite cousins, Austin and Mikayla (also their only cousins).  Austin and Tyler instantly bonded playing the Wii and Super Mario Brothers.  Austin is very good at it since he has had a lot of practice on his Wii, but he was super patient with Tyler as Tyler learned to play the games.  They were great buds the few days we were there.

It was cute to see Rachel and Mikayla interact.  Last year, Rachel was too young to "play" with anyone, so I was glad to see Rachel and Mikayla play and get along.  They seemed to hit it off really well for an almost 2 and an almost 3 year old.

We were able to hit the last day of kiddie park.   The lines were long since it was the last night it was open, but the kids enjoyed the rides.  The kids haven't been to an amusement park since Disneyland. Rachel was 6 months old when we went so I was interested to see how she would do.  She seemed to like it!

It has been a HOT summer in Oklahoma and the temperature while we were there still reached 100.   So we were able to enjoy cooling down in the splash pad and swimming in grandma and grandpa's pool.

We also went to the Caney, Kanses zoo.  The zoo is small, so they offer guided tours to all visitors of the zoo.  It was neat because all the animal cages were up close and the tour guide fed alot of the animals as we went around.  The most exciting I thought was when they fed the tigers.  It was amazing to see the tigers dive into the water for their raw chicken.  Here's a video of it:

Our family with the tour guide feeding the bear.

Petting the baby deer who had lost his mother and brought to the zoo.

Up close with more animals.

Tyler petting the alligator's tail.  This alligator was mad.  I was surprised our tour guide picked him up!

That was one fast, fun filled long weekend!
