More visitors

My family left, and then Jeff's family came into town.  While they were here we celebrated the 4th of July.  It was a weird 4th of July.  Due to the Waldo Canyon fires nearby and everything being so dry, fireworks were banned in Colorado Springs.  I didn't hear one firework on the forth.  We celebrated by visiting the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic site for their 4th of July celebration.
We thought Tyler would make a good soldier

Tyler went to work making rope

There were games in the barn for the kids.  Their favorite was the candy scramble, where they searched for candy in the hay.  Yum!

We also tried walking on stilts.  Jeff was a natural and was able to walk around for quite a while on them.

After a few tries I was able to get up and walk for a few seconds.
Sara gave it a try too, but she didn't have the best attire for stilt walking.

Tyler and Rachel had fun walking on stilts (with a little help).

We also did some hiking.  We hiked Helen Hunt Falls and Mt Cutler.

The next day we hit the zoo.  Feeding the giraffes is always a highlight.

One giraffe cooperated and let us take a picture with him.

This turtle was huge! And he got right up close to us so we could touch his shell.
Tyler and Grandma and Grandpa D. fed the birds and one bird after he was done eating stayed on Grandma's arm for a picture.

We were also able to see the bears up close during a demonstration and feeding.

Sara was here on her birthday so Jeff tried his hand at decorating the birthday cake.  He did a pretty good job making a dinosaur.
Happy Birthday Sara!
